Seven Decades of a Dynamic Track Record

Pustak Mahal is a professionally managed, closely held, family-owned company that was incorporated in 1974 by promoters who already had over four decades of experience in the field. Having moved from success to success, the company today has over 1,500 titles, with at least 500 titles on the active list. Out of these, around 50 titles have been on the bestsellers' lists, and are still being printed even years after their first edition. Rapidex remains one of the most successful brands ever created in Indian publishing history with over 25 million copies under the Rapidex imprint. Every year, the company prints over 2.2 million copies of different books – including the new titles.

Pustak Mahal is the first publisher to initiate a publicity culture in the Indian Publishing world. It spends a substantial amount on publicity backed by:

International Vision

Committed to a national ethos, the company has been actively promoting the cause of Indian authors and the Hindi language. We are among the few Indian Publishers to print world encyclopaedias in Hindi – from the Guinness Book of World Records for ten years to Science Encyclopaedias from Hamlyn and Sports Encyclopaedia from Diagram, Books UK. We have brought many landmark world bestsellers to Indian readers at Indian prices.

In view of the ongoing worldwide trends we feel that the company could take a major leap forward through focussed co-publishing and distribution tie-ups with foreign publishers for long-term mutual objectives.

In the Year 2004-2005

Going by the trend and continuing the tradition of producing newer books, over 50 books have been printed in year the 2004-05. Hindu Rites, Rituals, Customs and Traditions by Prem P. Bhalla, J. Krishnamurti Demystified by Dr. Kalidas Joshi, Mullah Nasruddin by Clifford Sawhney, Mummy, I'm Hungry! by Juhi Aggarwal, to name a few.

Best Professional Jokes, Mullah Nasruddin, J. Krishnamurti Demystified have been greatly appreciated by masses.
