This brings stress and suffocation in her life. The author portrays 40 such situations in a housewife’s life forcing her to deal with them all by herself. AN EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK IS AS FOLLOWS:

Buster–1
Food on Other’s Platter

We make a living by what we get,
but we make a life by what we give.

Power and money attract everyone. As you pass through different phases in life, your priorities may change. You may prefer to settle down to a quiet life of marital bliss rather than getting into the rut of a nine to five job.
But as the initial euphoria of marriage settles down, you may seek the change and start thinking, ‘Why can’t I be a career woman like her?’ And so on.....
The Stress Factor
Rubina rushed to the balcony to say goodbye to her husband who was leaving for office. She was aghast to find him looking at someone else rather than waving to her. She followed his gaze and was shocked to find him looking appreciatively at Mrs. Nahata, who, too, was rushing off
to office.
An array of emotions, most of it envy, rushed through her body. Why can’t I be in her place? Why am I cooped up in this flat rushing through housework each day without any respite while she and her kind enjoy life in the office? The feeling stayed with her all day long, day after day, making her tense and irritable.
Stress Busters
Every situation has two sides. It is up to us how we perceive that situation.
Two Sides of the Coin
Positive Aspects
• By being a housewife, you can adjust your chores according to your own convenience. You do not have to rush through jobs.
• You can cook nutritious food for your family and feed them in a relaxed manner.
• Children grow up in the security of your love and protection.
• Your house would always be clean and spot free making you its proud owner.
Negative Aspects
• What you lose by not being a working woman depends upon your own perspective.
• Yes, by working in an office away from home, you may be able to escape the monotony of a routine life. But what is the guarantee that after a few days, going to office itself will not turn into a monotonous routine for you!
• So why get stressed over something in which you have nothing to gain, anyway.
Say ‘No’ to Stress
Just because you are not able to step into other person’s shoes, you should not become tense and stressed. Everything has its negative as well as positive aspects. Weigh your options, keeping your priorities in mind.
If you are so keen on doing a job, you may take up a part-time job or be a freelancer, so that you can devote time to your family and have the creative satisfaction too. Once your children grow up, you may take up a full-time job too.
Creative Thinking
Consider all the positive aspects of being a housewife and tell us the truth. Do you still wish to get into that hectic schedule of constant running and rushing into things? Won’t you rather enjoy life at your own pace? You are the boss in your house. So relish what has been served on your platter.
Remember, food on the other table always looks tempting but it turns sour as soon as it is transferred to your table.
Tip of the Day:
Smile all day at everything and everyone that deserves a smile and see how many smiles you get back.
