INTRODUCTION TO VEDIC MATHEMATICS

(Like the crest on the heads of peacocks, like the gems on the hoods of cobras, mathematics is at the top of Vedanga Jyotisha) Vedic Mathematics may sound a new name for some of you but it was introduced around 50 years ago by Late Sankaracarya Bharti Krishna Tirthaji Maharaj. The word ‘Veda’ literally means the ‘fountain head and illimitable storehouse of all knowledge’. Therefore, Vedas contain all knowledge which is essential for mankind. The original book of Vedic Mathematics written by His Holiness Swami Bharti Krishna Tirthaji Maharaj has 16 sutras and 13 sub-sutras all together. The original source of Vedic Mathematics is the Atharva Veda and all the sutras and sub-sutras were discovered by Sri Swamiji himself. This present book is a small effort to bring a revolutionary change in the minds of readers who find Mathematics an insipid subject. The main reason behind Mathematics phobia is lengthy calculation. The traditional method of calculation is not user-friendly and there is hardly any room for choice and experimentation. Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Square, Square Root, Cube, Cube Root are the basic structures of mathematics. Vedic Mathematics presents varieties of methods which one can use according to one’s need. Not only that, this book has two more feathers in its cap: one is Casting out Nines, a unique and special method to check the accuracy of Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division in a few seconds and the second special feature is the topic on solving Simple Equations. Though Vedic Mathematics has many things to offer but keeping in view the basic needs of the present-day student who wants faster calculation technique with 100% accuracy, this book has been designed accordingly. Vedic Mathematics opens a new horizon for the mathematics lover. It presents the wider platform to experiment with. It is unique in many ways: · It is 5-6 times faster than the traditional method. · It helps to carry out tedious and cumbersome arithmetical operations mentally. · This is truly unconventional and lucid. · It saves our time and precious energy. · The accuracy of the problem can be judged in seconds. These unique methods of calculation are easy to understand; and the best feature of Vedic Mathematics is its simple presentation. Even the common man who is not much interested in Mathematics and suffers from Mathematical phobia can find the presentation of Vedic Mathematics interesting.
