World Famous Supernatural Mysteries is a collection of such nail-biting bizarre tales and occurrences that make us delve deeper into the truth and reality of life. It makes us question our senses and impinges on treating the fictionalised world as real…living.

It is an encounter with many gothic and supernatural elements – a lightening that restored the eyesight of many, of elves and fairies…of spirits that guide and rule at the same time. We read of rain pouring fishes, snails, oysters and even lizards. The secret behind the Tutankhamen treasures is laid bare while zombies and witches pervade the human psyche and seem omnipresent.

With interesting photographs and illustrations, this book is full of action – thrills, frills and chills at the same time. So hold your breath and explore the unknown.

The book`s presentation in no way reinforces superstition or endorse such beliefs.

The disappearing act
It happened either in August or September. Anjikuni village is situated about fifty miles away from the Churchill police station in Canada. It is mainly inhabited by Eskimos. One day, the entire population of this village vanished without leaving any trace. The interesting thing is that even till date, none of them has been sighted. It seemed as if the inhabitants of this village had simply dissolved into air by some magic. Another thing to be noted that only human beings disappeared. Their household goods as well as the cattle and other things were intact.

As the news of en masse disappearance of the entire population of this arctic village reached the authorities, they launched investigations into this matter. Suspecting mass suicide, they even dug up the graves in the village. There was another shock in store for the authorities. They did not find a single dead body of the people, who had disappeared. In fact, the dead bodies of
the people buried previously were also missing. The graves were all empty.

Many such incidents of disappearance have come to light at different times and at different places. These incidents of mass disappearance have created panic in those regions and science has been unable to explain the phenomenon. Another such incident took place in French Indo-China (now called Vietnam), in 1885. The country was under French subjugation. A regiment of 600 French soldiers were marching towards Saigon from their cantonment. They had hardly gone fifteen miles when the entire regiment disappeared. Many people travelling on that road witnessed this sudden disappearance and stood aghast.

These eye-witnesses started into the vacant space, rubbed their eyes to check if what they saw was true. The entire regiment was gone. Nobody captured the troops nor anyone attacked them.
Then, how could they vanish? Investigations were carried out later but no definite clue was found nor any trace of these people or their arms.
