ABOUT THE BOOK:
Office management comprises those functions
that support line management. It is concerned with all the backroom operations
which the office staff performs so that their seniors could function
effectively. The advances in information technology are transforming
traditional offices into stylish work places. Today’s offices are dotted with
PCs, Laptop, Tablet with internet connections, multi-functional printers,
photo-copiers, fax machines, remotely operated electronic telephones with
multiple functions and a host of other electronic gadgets. A number of software
packages are also available on various office operations and an increasing
office services are being made available online. Office operation has become a
highly specialized job and there is trend to outsource most of the office
operations to a host of BPOs.
This book gives a course in skill development of ministerial and secretarial staff. Ministerial staff
comprises clerks, assistants and superintendents. These also include
accountants and cashiers. Secretarial staff comprises steno typists,
stenographers, PAs and Private/Personal/Office Secretaries. This course will
serve them as a roadmap to become specialists in office operations in their own
right with professional mind set, business like attitude and honest in their
dealings. After this course they will be able to discharge their
responsibilities effectively and efficiently without any tension.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR'S:
Professor Shital Parkash has been very actively engaged in teaching,
research, training and consultancy for more than 37 years at Panjab University.
He retired as a professor in 1998. He is
a qualified industrial engineer. He carried
out a large number of research and consultancy projects on various aspects of
office operations including noting, drafting, filing system and records
management. He directed thousands of training programmes for all ranks of civil
servants, executives of public
undertakings and officers from various universities in India, UGC and ICSSR.
He has been Honorary Director of the Centre for work study in
Educational Administrations and also of the Productivity Services and Training
Unit at Panjab University. He has also been Honorary Joint Director of the
Indian Council of Social Science Research North Western Regional Centre,
Chandigarh. He is Chairman and Managing Trustee of Public Management
Development Foundation, a registered Public Charitable Trust and Managing
Director of the Senior Citizen’s Council of Human Resources Development.
Professor Jaya Prakash has been one of the founder members of the Department of Hindi at G.N.D. University, Amritsar. He taught Hindi and guided research students for more than 35 years at various educational institutions such as Regional Centre for P.G. Studies, Shimla, Brahmand College, Kanpur; Hindu College, Moradabad; Hindi Dept. GNDU, Amritsar. He retired as a professor of Hindi from PU, Chandigarh. Research students numbering 37 got their Ph.D. degree under his guidance.
- Ha has authored 5 critical books and edited 2 books along with several research papers in major research journals in the field of Hindi language and literature.
- He has been felicitated by the Sahitya Academy, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh Hindi Sansthan, Lucknow for his contribution in his field.
- He has been the member of R.R.R.L. Foundation, Kolkata and Central Hindi Institute, Agra. He has also been the member of various academic committees in several Public Service Commissions, Universities and literary bodies of eminence throughout India.
